There are More Skin Conditions Than People are Aware Of
from:Our skin is a vital part of our body in addition to being the largest organ in our body. Its purpose and duty is to protect our inner body from the outside world and anything that may be harmful such as viruses or bacteria. Our skin is also what helps us to determine if things are wet or dry or cold or hot as well as regulating our body temperature. When our skin develops different skin conditions, they may affect the duty of the skin.
Skin Conditions are something that we all suffer through at one time or another in our life. There are many different types of skin conditions. Some are temporary such as sunburn, measles, heat rash, ringworm and scabies, while other skin conditions like warts, rosacea, acne, eczema and skin cancer are more permanent or long-lasting skin conditions. Some skin conditions are hereditary or genetic while others are the result of an allergy, dry skin, accident or any number of causes.
Some very common skin conditions are dermatitis, hives and acne. Dermatitis is a medical term for inflammation of the skin and involves itchy, red and swollen skin. Although it's not contagious or life threatening, it can make you very uncomfortable. There are two types of dermatitis: seborrheic dermatitis and atopic dermatitis, which is actually eczema. Seborrheic dermatitis is a condition of the scalp that causes dandruff. Other varieties of dermatitis are contact dermatitis, which comes from repeated contact with irritants or things that cause allergies; perioral dermatitis, which is a rash surrounding the mouth; stasis dermatitis, which is caused by a fluid buildup under the skin on our legs; neurodermatitis, which is a chronic and itchy condition that is on specific parts of the body. All of these skin conditions have the similar symptoms of itching, redness, skin lesions and redness.
Although many skin conditions are not very serious, if left untreated, they can develop into something more serious. Dry skin is a condition that will often cause skin conditions to develop such as eczema, which may cause a lot of discomfort. Dry skin can cause rashes, hives, eczema, dermatitis and other skin conditions that often result in a trip to the dermatologist. Although some skin conditions cannot be prevented, many can by prevented by taking good care of our skin. Our bodies require a lot of fluids to maintain their softness, pliability and strength. It's important to drink at least eight glasses of water each day. Skin should have creams and moisturizers applied on a regular basis to make sure it remains soft. A good diet is also very important towards keeping our skin healthy. By making sure our skin is healthy, we are at less risk of developing skin conditions.
